This project is a combination of hardware and software. In this system the microcontroller present at the user end count the number of units consumed and sends the data through ZigBee to PC record the database. Where this pc manages all the received information, computes the billing cost and updates the database using a .NET technology. A unique id is given to every meter which is under monitoring area. The consumed energy units are transmitted wirelessly through RF transceiver to the database storage PC where it is recorded in the database through SQL server 2008. There is a graphical form designed in .net which has a facility to display the record data or energy consumption by filling the id of that particular meter in the edit box of the graphical form.
