Project Description

The goal of this project was to build two different types of vertical axis wind turbines and measure the power generated by utilizing the wind power. Since, energy sources are depleting at faster rates which is causing energy crisis globally. The need of the hour is to increase the use of renewable energy sources. The renewable energy is formed from the wind power, hydro power, solar power and various other forms of biomass. Also, to save the environment from the pollution caused by the earlier used methods for power generation. This project is designed for mechanical students to present in their college. The practical knowledge of the project will be got while making the project and the theoretical topics related to it will be understood well along with its implementation. This is named as Vertical-axis wind turbine because of the vertical arrangement of the rotor shaft. The arrangement made in the project is considered advantageous because the turbine need not to be necessarily pointed into the wind for the effective working of the turbine.
