This project is about employing the LMS approach for channel equalization. This M-tech level project is implemented using MATLAB software and is categorized under communication based projects. Wireless communication has become an integral part of today’s society. Wireless technologies are being employed in all fields from e-business to e-administration. In digital communication, adaptive channel equalization techniques are employed for the successful provision of high speed and reliable data transmission over severely-dispersive channels, e.g. wireless and mobile ones. In this M-tech level project of wireless communication LMS technique is employed for channel equalization. This LMS algorithm implemented in this project is a class of adaptive filters that copies the functioning of any other filter by finding the filter coefficients that are further employed to generate the least mean squares of the error signal. In this project, the peaks of the signal obtained are equalized to some threshold value that removes the extra signal from the channel hence increasing its speed. the speed will be increased because earlier a greater signal was to be sent but now after equalization the signal that is to be transmitted is smaller in size which will automatically improve the speed of the system. The reliability will also increase as equalization will remove the noise added to the signal. It is said that adaptive equalizers relying on LMS algorithm are believed to generate desired and suboptimal results. In this M-tech level project, implemented using MATLAB software, LMS algorithm is employed for channel equalization that will significantly improve the efficiency of the wireless network by increasing its speed and reliability.
