Image processing is the process in which the image is converted into digital form and some operation is performed on it to make image more useful. Various M.tech based projects are done in the field of image processing. Edge detection is one such technique of the image processing that is applied on the digital image. Edge detection is the process of detecting the edges in the image. These edges define the boundaries between the regions in the image. Edge detection is used for the detection, recognition, segmentation of the objects in the images. Edge detection is also used for the medical imaging. Edge detection of an image significantly reduces the amount of data and filters out useless information, while preserving the important structural properties in an image. This project describes the detection of the edge in the image with the help of an optimization algorithm. Ant colony optimization algorithm is used for the detection of the edge in the images. As by using the optimization algorithm we obtain the optimum results that give the properly define the edges of the image. The more accurate result are obtained by using ACO algorithm.
