This is a wireless based M-tech level project that develops a MIMO system in OFDM systems. The project is implemented using MATLAB software. Wireless communication is a vast field that includes sub fields like routing, system designing, improving performance of system, enhancing channel capacity etc. which can prove to be an interesting areas of research. This project mainly deals with designing a MIMO system in OFDM systems. Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) and multiple input multiple output MIMO technologies are considered to be the most famous and widely used transmission technique for wireless communication. Multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) wireless technology in combination with orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (MIMOOFDM) is an attractive air-interface solution for next-generation wireless local area networks (WLANs), wireless metropolitan area networks (WMANs), and fourth-generation mobile cellular wireless systems. The objective of developing this project is to provide users with high data-rate wireless access at high quality of service. The advantages of MIMO systems that will be inherited in this combination of MIMO with OFDM is the spatial multiplexing, array gain, diversity etc. The OFDM system faces the problem of Inter Symbol Interference that causes signal distortion. When OFDM system is combined with MIMO this problem of ISI is reduced and the cellular system capacity is improved. This M-tech level project helps designing a better system with the combination of both MIMO and OFDM technologies. The results are illustrated in MATLAB and the calculations and verifications of the result can be done using MATLAB software.
