Image segmentation is a vital application of the image processing. Image segmentation is the process of dividing the image into multiple segments. It is basic task that is responsible for the separating process. Image segmentation changes the form of the image and converts it into the meaningful image that is easy to analyze. There are various techniques for classification of the segment in the image segmentation. In this project a new method for classification of the segments is proposed that is implemented by using MATLAB software. Contour model approach is used for classification of the segments. The image is selected for performing the image segmentation and on theta image the contour model is applied. Initially selection of area in which start contour is present is done for stating the image segmentation. After defining the start of the contour, Then the next region is selected and is matched with the contour, if it match’s then it will be taken in that contour else it will be moved into next contour. This is an efficient approach for the medical imaging. As in medical imaging the contour model approach can be used for the classification of the disease. Contour model approach for image segmentation is better as it adds certain properties to the image before performing segmentation which makes the process of locating the boundary comparatively easier. In this project we have proposed a technique for image segmentation using contour model approach Segmentation is the process of dividing image into various segments in order to obtain a meaningful image. The classification of the segments is done on the basis of the contour model approach and it will result in better classification of segments.
