Mind Reader
The mind reader works on binary number system, while it uses only symbols ‘0’ and ‘1’ (Known as bits) to form number. To encode decimal numbers in BCD format, four binary bits are required. The BCD format is also called NBCD because of the natural binary number system that it uses. A2-digit decimal number , say 89, can be expressed as 1000 1001 in BCD digit group. Here 1000 denotes 8 in to the tens place and 1001 denotes 9 in units place. By toggling the switches in different sets of numbers either 1 or 0 is generated, depending on whether the number exists in the group of not. Eight switches designated S1 to S8 and arranged in order from right to left in BCD code. The no.89. exists in S1 and S4 groups for the units digit and in S8 group for tens digit giving 8, similarly, 73 coded as 011110011, will appear in the groups S2: S2 and S7.
