Project Description

In the wireless mesh network the denial of service (DOS) attack is one of the major problems. In this project selective forwarding attack that is the gray hole attack is taken in consideration. Das the result of this attack the mesh router would forward subset of the packets it receive and would drop the others .The previous study were based on the detection of the attack in the network, in order to make error free network, but in this new approach the problem of dropping of packets is taken in consideration that is caused by this attack resulting in the bad channel quality. A channel aware detection (CAD) algorithm is proposed that can identify the selective forwarding misbehavior from the normal channel losses. The channel estimation and the traffic monitoring are the two strategies on which the CAD algorithm is based. For the identification of the attacker node it is checked, if the loss rate at some hops exceeds the normal rate than that node is considered as the attacker. Also the comparison of the CAD approach is made with the some existing solutions through extensive computer simulations .
