Project Description

The Prototype setup that is having a sensor fitted at a specified distance which are used to measure the speed of incoming vehicle and capture the image of the same in case the limit is exceeded. The aim of this project is to record the speed of vehicles moving on the road. There is a sensor fitted at specified distance on the road which will sense the speed of incoming vehicles towards it. When a vehicle is passed to the first sensor it gives signal to the microcontroller which starts calculating the time until it reached the second sensor. When it reached the second sensor it calculate the speed of the vehicle by the formula (Speed = distance/time). If the calculated speed of the vehicle is above the certain limit or over speed then it gives a signal to the PC.This project is designed using embedded system and MATLAB technology. The main components of this project are microcontroller, LCD, Power Supply and reflector sensors. When a vehicle is passed to the first sensor it gives signal to the microcontroller which starts calculating the time until it reached the second sensor. When it reached the second sensor it calculate the speed of the vehicle by the formula (Speed = distance/time). If the calculated speed of the vehicle is above the certain limit or over speed then it gives a signal to the PC and record the scene using a video camera.

    Embedded System using 8051 Microcontroller

Embedded system is basically a combination of hardware with software. Embedded system basically is a computer system that is designed to pull off a few or one specific function, more often than not in real-time computing constraints. An embedded system is called an embedded system because it is embedded in or is a part of much complex and complete device that comprises hardware, moveable and mechanical parts. They are basically microcontroller to work with ‘applications as a resulted output. A microcontroller is a device with its own memory (RAM, ROM) and many more features added to it such as UART, Interupts and Timer etc, which make it superior to the microprocessors.

Advance version of combo of two most vetern embedded systems i.e. PIC and 8051 together. They both have various advantages. The PIC is a very general purpose microcontroller with ADC, counter, Built in oscillator with selectable speeds Wide range of interfaces including SPI, USB, USART, AD, programmable comparators, PWM has been used with the advantages of the 8-bit 8051 microcontroller

    Very Large Scale Integration (VLSI)

This is a process of stemming or creating integrated circuits by combing several thousands of transistors together on a single chip. VLSI stands for very large scale integration which in short has a purpose of integrating several numbers of semiconductors on a single chip. There are various VLSI technologies used as 45nm, 65nm. They have been named so depending on the length of the gate used in the transistors. A microprocessor is also a VLSI device. Structured VLSI design is a modular methodology originated just with an aim of saving microchip area by minimizing the interconnection area.

    Embedded Systems & Robotics

Embedded Robotics the most popular technology that introduces advanced technologies and solutions for emerging embedded applications, including digital consumer electronics, automotive, wireless/ubiquitous computing and factory automation. Embedded System are ever more capable engineering systems that we all use in our daily lives, ranging from applications in mobile telephones to washing machines, cars to airplanes. This programme brings both fields together to provide multidisciplinary skills with employment potential in a wide range of areas. Embedded systems are used widely over simple robotics because of its advantages and wireless medium transmission. Embedded robotics is a field in which mechanical, software; power is used to run a system
